Registration for UF Training and Organizational Development’s summer workshops now available
Many training opportunities are available this summer—all designed with UF faculty and staff in mind.
Summer is a great time to take advantage of UF Training and Organizational Development’s management curriculum—“Managing at UF: the Supervisory Challenge” series. Based on the UF-specific Leadership/ManagementCompetency Model, workshops include “Decision-Making Strategies for Managers,” “Thinking Strategically: Using Vision, Purpose, and Goals to Get Results,”and “Accountability in the Workplace: A Manager’s Guide to High Standards, Great Results.”
myUFL Financial Systems Upgrade will affect all myUFL users beginning May 10
Left-hand navigation to disappear
On May 10, the entire “look and feel” of the myUFL system will be different as a result of the myUFL Financial Systems Upgrade, affecting everyone who logs into the myUFL portal—even students or employees who only access the system for their paycheck.
Of particular note, the left-hand navigation will no longer be available in the upgraded system. To prepare for this change, watch the 10-minute "Look and Feel" Tutorial—and please share the tutorial with others in your area who might benefit from it.
Lapse in summer deductions for UF-sponsored insurance plans does not impact coverage
If you participate in certain UF-sponsored insurance plans, you will notice a temporary increase in take-home pay over the summer. Based on your appointment status, your deduction cycle for these university-sponsored plans will vary.
New mandatory mail-order maintenance prescriptions for BCBS members now in effect
Effective January 1, 2011, BlueCross BlueShield plan participants are allowed to fill certain maintenance medication prescriptions at a retail pharmacy for three months before they are required to send them directly to Caremark. Participants should visit the Caremark web site to establish an online account and, once there, may elect how to pay for medications, order refills, see prescriptions history, check for generic alternatives, check the status of an order, and use many other features.
Applications for the 2011-12 UF Academy and Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals programs due April 29
A call for applications for 2011-12 leadership development programs sponsored by UF Training and Organizational Development is now underway, with an application deadline of April 29. Apply today for the UF Academy (the university’s emerging leader program, entering its ninth year) or the Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals program.
Employee Education Program accepting applications for summer semesters
The Employee Education Program (EEP) is a popular benefit available to eligible UF faculty and staff. The program provides tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of eligible college-level courses per semester. In the summer, a combined total of six credits taken during semesters A, B, and C may be covered by the EEP.
New myUFL “self service” function enables employees to establish their own payroll deductions
Do you have library, dial-up, or other debts to the University of Florida posted under the My Campus Finances section of my.ufl.edu? You will no longer have to mail a check, use a credit card, or submit a paper form for payroll deductions to pay these debts.
2011 Davis Productivity Award winners announced
The Davis Productivity Awards, held annually to honor state government employees throughout Florida, has announced its winners for 2011, including the following teams from the University of Florida.
Florida Pension Plan/DROP Workshop to be offered as online broadcast
On April 12, UF employees can participate in the GET573 Florida Pension Plan/DROP Workshop from the convenience of their computers. The session will be broadcast live online from 9 to 11 a.m., enabling remote participants to watch the presentation and interact with the instructor electronically.
Maintenance scheduled for the myUFL system
Over the weekend of April 15 to 17, in preparation for May’s myUFL Financial Systems Upgrade, some technical maintenance will be performed on the myUFL system.
During this maintenance, student financials modules in the myUFL system will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on Friday, April 15, until an estimated time of 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. HR/payroll modules in the myUFL system will be unavailable on Saturday, April 16, but is expected to be available on or around 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 17.

Please note that several Human Resource Services departmental phone numbers have been changed.
File 2010 flexible spending account claim forms by April 15
If you participated in a medical or dependent-care reimbursement account during 2010, your claims must be submitted to the People First Service Center by April 15, 2011.

Separate Salary Reduction Agreement (SRA) forms for the Tax Deferred 403(b) and Roth 403(b) plans were recently created and may be found on the Forms section of HRS’s web site.
Contributions to other retirement plans impact how much you can contribute to UF plans
Did you know that the IRS 415 limit (employer and employee contributions) is reduced dollar for dollar by any voluntary contribution you make to another 403(b), 401(k), Federal Thrift Savings, salary reduction SEP, or SIMPLE plan?
