Dec. 24 added as a 2012 paid holiday

Last week, President Machen approved Monday, Dec. 24, as a 2012 paid holiday for UF faculty and staff. While the Governor's recent announcement to provide Dec. 24 as a paid day off for state employees does not apply to universities, President Machen decided to provide this benefit for all UF employees.


Complete benefit transactions by Dec. 14 for Jan. 1 coverage

All benefits enrollments, changes and payroll deductions that need to be completed for Jan. 1, 2013, coverage must be received by University Benefits by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.  Such transactions include all paperwork for new hires who wish to begin their health insurance effective Jan. 1 as well as current employees with qualifying status event changes.


Registration for spring training programs is now open

UF Training and Organizational Development (T&OD) is pleased to offer a broad range of training opportunities in 2013. In addition to programs designed with UF faculty and staff in mind, T&OD also provides organizational development services that focus on developing organizations and teams.

Double-check your insurance deductions for 2013 now

Before the New Year begins, be sure to verify any changes you made during the fall benefits Open Enrollment period were completed successfully.

Contribution limits for retirement plans to increase
in 2013

The IRS has announced that some 2013 retirement plan contribution limits will increase slightly from the 2012 limits. As you review your contributions, you may wish to consider starting or increasing your salary deferrals in order to maximize your tax savings.


Employee Education Program accepting applications for spring semester

A popular benefit available to eligible UF faculty and staff, the Employee Education Program provides tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of eligible college-level courses per semester.

Baby Gator centers provide help to local families
in need

Thanks to the generosity of Baby Gator families and HRS, Baby Gator centers recently collected 870 pounds of food for the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank to be distributed to families in need. Baby Gator sponsors a food drive each fall to help children understand the value of giving, sharing and supporting others.  Thanks to all who contributed.


Ensure you receive your W-2 in January

All UF employees should ensure their Local and Permanent Home Addresses in myUFL are up-to-date.  To verify and/or update your information, login to myUFL and navigate to: Main Menu > My Account > Update My Directory Profile.


Protect your identity and work through proper media storage disposal

Did you know both your personal information and the UF work files you save to removable storage devices like flash drives are vulnerable if these devices are misplaced, stolen or thrown in the trash with other office items?
