UF introduces its plan for preeminence
In November, President Machen announced the Florida Board of Governors approved the University of Florida’s Preeminence Plan, which calls for hiring as many as 100 new professors, most of whom will be seasoned faculty who are widely recognized in their fields.

UF Leave Administration encourages you to enter your time and leave early as you make preparations for time off during the holidays. All TEAMS and Academic Personnel identified by their departments as “essential employees” can now begin to use and enter December personal leave, and USPS employees can begin to enter advanced vacation leave that will be used Dec. 26-31. (See the November InfoGator for further details on this year’s closing period.)
Complete any necessary benefits transactions early this month
All state-sponsored benefit enrollments and changes affecting Jan. 1, 2014, coverage must be received by People First by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. As a reminder, new employees and those experiencing a qualifying status event must complete enrollments for state-sponsored benefits through the People First portal or by calling the People First service center at 1-866-663-4735.
Review Open Enrollment changes and check your payroll deductions
Before the New Year begins, all employees—including OPS—should review any enrollments or changes made during the fall benefits Open Enrollment period. To access your state/People First benefits information, log onto the People First website with the user ID and password you used during Open Enrollment.

Retirement plan contribution limits announced for 2014
The IRS has announced the retirement plan contribution limits for 2014. Voluntary contribution limits for 403(b) and 457 plans did not change. As you review your contributions, you may wish to consider starting or increasing your salary deferral in order to maximize your tax savings.
