GatorCare Options health plan available to postdocs

Beginning July 1, the University of Florida’s insurance plan for postdoctoral associates and postdoctoral fellows will be provided through GatorCare, UF’s new self-insured health plan. Postdoctoral associates, postdoctoral fellows and dependents who are currently enrolled in PostDocCare will be automatically transitioned into the new plan—GatorCare Options. Postdocs who are not currently enrolled in PostDocCare will be able to enroll in GatorCare Options during UF’s fall benefits Open Enrollment period for a January 1, 2014, coverage effective date.    

Superior Accomplishment Awards ceremony honors UF staff and faculty

Almost 375 employees attended the 2013 Superior Accomplishment Awards ceremony held on April 18 to celebrate the 116 divisional award winners and 16 university award recipients. The annual program recognizes staff and faculty members who contribute outstanding and meritorious service, efficiency and/or economy to the quality of life for students and employees.

First GBAS professional development program credentials awarded

On April 18, the Gator Business Administrator Services professional development program recognized its first group of credentialed participants during the Spring 2013 GBAS Business Administrator Institute held at Emerson Hall.

2013 Davis Productivity Award winners announced

The Davis Productivity Awards program, which annually honors state government employees throughout Florida, has announced its 2013 winners—including several from the University of Florida.

Employees must report 2012-13 compensatory leave use by June 6

All non-exempt TEAMS and USPS employees as well as exempt USPS employees have until the end of the fiscal year, June 30, to use overtime and/or special compensatory leave. However, the compensatory leave must be entered into the Weekly Elapsed Screen in the myUFL system no later than 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 6. If the leave is not entered for use by this deadline, it will be cashed out automatically during the pay period ending June 20 for the payday of Friday, June 28.

Use your 2013 personal days or personal holiday by July 3

If you have unused TEAMS or faculty personal leave days or USPS personal holiday, now is the time to use those days.  Both will expire, if not used by the end of the pay period in which June 30 (the end of the fiscal year) occurs. Because in 2013 this pay period ends on the July 4 holiday, the last day to use your personal days for 2012-2013 is July 3.

Tuition Exchange Scholarship Program offers possibility of more affordable higher education

The Tuition Exchange Scholarship Program (TEP) provides the opportunity for dependent children of the University of Florida’s full-time employees (excluding OPS) to attend a participating Tuition Exchange college or university at a significant tuition reduction rate.
