OPS and other temporary employees at UF who work an average of 30 hours per week or more will be eligible to enroll in most of the State of Florida’s benefit plans during the 2013 Open Enrollment period for coverage effective Jan. 1, 2014. UF will provide People First with a list of all OPS employees and their reported hours worked, and People First will determine participants’ eligibility.
Nomination forms for the 2014 Davis Productivity Awards program, which annually honors state government employees throughout Florida, are now available. In addition to honoring “innovation, creativity, and smart work,” the awards program recognizes the measurable contributions, increased productivity and added value of individuals and teams.
Gator Business Administrator Services (GBAS)—a professional development program that targets business administrators—is accepting applications through Sept. 30 for its 2013-14 mentoring program. Participants are selected via a competitive application process, and the program begins in November.
Beginning this fall, the methods by which human subjects in UF research studies are compensated monetarily, as well as the systems that support these processes, will change. The new process—which is currently being piloted and will be made available university-wide Nov. 12—will enable UF to comply with federal and IRS regulations while improving the protection of its subjects' data.
Formed in 2003 and sponsored by UF Human Resource Services, the university’s Academic & Professional Assembly (APA) serves as a resource to provide programs and networking opportunities tailored to the interests and needs of the professional staff on campus. The APA contributes to the excellence of the university by providing input on important campus issues as well as by providing an opportunity for staff to contribute to the institution.
Qualifying University of Florida employees may apply for membership in the Sick Leave Pool during its open enrollment period from Oct. 1 to 31. All applications must be received by the Sick Leave Pool administrator in Leave Administration by 5 p.m. on Oct. 31. Please note that open enrollment for the Sick Leave Pool is a separate process from Benefits’ Open Enrollment and has its own deadlines.
The University of Florida’s Higher Education Opportunity (HEO) provides children of full-time TEAMS employees with the opportunity of tuition assistance for an undergraduate education at the University of Florida. In March 2014, Human Resource Services will select, at random from a pool of eligible HEO applicants, 50 TEAMS employees to participate in this program. Each eligible employee may submit one child’s name into the drawing. To be considered for this benefit, the TEAMS employee must apply for the HEO by Nov. 1, 2013.
