Gator Business Administrator Services (GBAS)—a professional development program that targets business administrators—is accepting applications through Sept. 30 for its 2014-15 mentoring program. Participants are selected via a competitive application process, and the program begins in December. Visit the GBAS website to download an application.
The Office of the University Controller and UF Training and Organizational Development sponsor the mentoring program, which is entering its fourth year, to provide access to more experienced employees and guide developing administrators in their professional growth. To participate in the mentoring program, applicants must be in a position that involves analysis and/or decision-making regarding topics such as budgeting, forecasting, reconciliation, grants and HR/hiring.
A demonstrated willingness to go “above and beyond” the duties of the job is essential – as is enthusiasm for the job. Supervisory support is required for each application, and it is recommended applicants have at least one year in a business administrator role to take full advantage of the GBAS mentoring program.
The goal of the GBAS program is to support the professional development of newly hired business administrators at the university and provide ongoing professional development for existing business administrators. This includes defining institutional expectations associated with the role of the business administrator, providing the mentoring program, and hosting a regular schedule of professional development activities. These efforts are designed to improve the consistency of business management practices and stewardship of UF funds.
