Starting Tuesday, Oct. 20, a free weekly yoga class for faculty, staff and graduate assistants will be held at the Florida Gym, 1864 Stadium Rd., from 12:15-1:00 p.m. The class will be held every Tuesday and is appropriate for all levels of experience. The gym is located on the east side of the Florida Gym Building’s first floor, next to Room 181.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own mats and wear clothes that are comfortable for movement. Those who wish to may also bring a towel or blanket to serve as added cushion.
Kim Holton, UF’s employee wellness coordinator, will lead the class. Kim began studying yoga in 1998 and teaching in 2002. She has completed teacher trainings through Sivandanda, Nosara and the Kundalini Research Institute. Kim has trained with numerous nationally recognized yoga teachers in the traditions of Ashtanga, Iyengar, Kripalu, Kundalini, Restorative and Vinyasa. She has taught and worked at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies as well as the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and teaches locally at Sanctuary Yoga and through Santa Fe College’s Community Education Program. Kim also recently joined a group of volunteers bringing yoga and meditation to inmates at the Lowell Correctional Institution.
