Faculty and Staff Climate Survey results to be released in June

Designed to help determine how well the university fosters an overall sense of belonging for its faculty and staff, the UF Faculty and Staff Climate Survey was available for completion from Oct. 27 through Nov. 27 of 2015. In June, a representative from Rankin & Associates — the consulting firm engaged to coordinate the survey — will be on campus to discuss high-level summaries of the findings from a university-wide perspective.


Work is underway on multi-year student systems initiative

Earlier this year, the University of Florida announced a multi-year effort to unify and modernize its student systems. Over the next five years, the Campus-wide Modernization Program to Advance Student Services — or COMPASS — will be implemented in a series of releases that began with the migration of self-service functions to ONE.UF in February.


UFIRST Awards implementation goes live July 5

On July 5, the final phase of the UFIRST implementation will be complete when the awards module of the system is launched. Register now to attend one of the many scheduled sessions of RSH282, the UFIRST Awards training course, that begin June 2.


Department of Labor announces final rule updating the Fair Labor Standards Act

On May 18, President Obama and Department of Labor (DOL) Sectary Thomas Perez announced the publication of the DOL’s final rule updating the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The DOL expects that the changes to the FLSA will extend overtime pay protections to more than 4 million workers.


Use your 2015-2016 personal days by June 30

If you have unused TEAMS or faculty personal leave days or a USPS personal holiday, now is the time to use those days. USPS personal holidays and TEAMS/faculty personal leave days will expire if they are not used by the end of the pay period in which June 30 occurs.

Employee Education Program accepting applications for Summer B semester

A popular benefit available to eligible UF faculty and staff, the Employee Education Program provides tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of eligible college-level courses per semester. During the summer, a combined total of six credits taken during semesters A, B, and C may be covered by the EEP.


Sick leave cashout program to discontinue after June 2016

Beginning July 1, 2016, no payments for sick leave will be made for any type of separation from employment for TEAMS, USPS and faculty who are not part of the collective bargaining unit. New lynda.com login process provides free 24/7 access

The login page for lynda.com — the company with which UF partners to provide students and employees with access to online software and technology courses — has changed, resulting in a slightly different process for using the free service at UF.


Reminder: Be sure to report all work/life-event changes

UF employees should report qualifying status events to University Benefits or their Human Resource Services satellite office within 60 days of the event date.
