myUFL password reset process to require phone verification beginning July 10

myUFL password reset

UF’s GatorLink Account Management system will be upgraded on July 10. The upgrade includes an extra layer of security, very similar to what banks and credit unions now use. Because of this security enhancement, the process for a password reset is changing.

Before the July 10 upgrade, be sure to log in to myUFL and confirm that your current home phone number and/or your personal or work cell phone number is in your Directory Profile. To do so, login to myUFL and navigate to: Main Menu > My Account > Update My Directory Profile.

To complete a self-service reset for a forgotten password
Beginning July 10, if you use the self-service function to reset your password — whether on your office PC, laptop or via a mobile device — you will now receive a verification code via text message (SMS) or voice call. You will then enter the verification code on the appropriate screen. The verification code, sent to your home phone or personal/work cell phone number, ensures you are actually the one changing your password, protecting you from unauthorized use of your account.

Please note that if your current home phone and/or personal cell phone number is not in your Directory Profile, you will not be able to use the self-service online password reset feature. If this is the case, please visit the UF Computing Help Desk (with photo ID) during its walk-in (in person) business hours in order to have your password reset.
