To honor the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, UF hosted a commemoration and unity ceremony on the evening of June 28. Hundreds of people gathered at the Century Tower, which was illuminated in rainbow colors as a beacon of solidarity.

The ceremony began with 49 tolls of the bells from Century Tower to represent each person who lost their life in the shooting—the name of each victim was also read. Speakers included UF President Kent Fuchs; LB Hannahs, director of LGBT Affairs at UF; and Diana Moreno, UF’s program coordinator for Hispanic-Latino Affairs.
