Do you know when to use the 435 Livescan Criminal Background Check?

do-you-know-livescanThe 435 Livescan is one of UF’s options for conducting a criminal background check on an employee. Livescan searches for criminal records in both the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and FBI databases. It’s important to note that this type of Livescan is only to be used for employees who will be employed:

  • By Baby Gator
  • In a position that is funded by the Florida Department of Children and Families
  • In an after-school program that is under the Florida of Department of Children and Families’ provision (F.S. 402.302)
  • At a summer camp that takes place between April 1 and Sept. 1

Selecting 435 Livescan inappropriately can put both the University of Florida and the Florida of Department of Children and Families out of compliance with the relevant Florida Statutes. UF Human Resource Services will likely incur additional costs if an employee submits his or her fingerprints prior to the hiring department’s receipt of a confirmation email. If this happens, HRS will charge the additional expense to the employee’s hiring department.

When conducting a 435 Livescan check on an employee, it is critical to submit a request form to Human Resource Services (HRS) along with the “Clearinghouse Applicant Request Form” and the “Clearinghouse Privacy Policy Acknowledge Form.” Applicants should only make an appointment for fingerprinting after receiving a confirmation email from the HRS Criminal Background Check team.
