Ensure you’re ready for 2017 benefits Open Enrollment

It’s almost time to make your benefits selections for 2017. UF’s employee benefits Open Enrollment period will be held Oct. 17 to Nov. 4. During Open Enrollment, employees can make changes and elections to state and UF benefit plans through the appropriate online portals. Elections made during Open Enrollment will be effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Here are a few ways you can prepare for Open Enrollment:

  • Ensure your mailing and email addresses are up-to-date in the myUFL system and the People First system (see below for details).
  • Watch for Open Enrollment packets from People First to arrive by mail in mid-October, emails from UF Benefits, and future issues of UF at Work. Be sure to read all materials carefully.
  • Review information on the state’s myBenefits website (for state plan information) and Human Resource Services’ website (for UFSelect supplementary and GatorCare plan information) for updates on benefits plan changes, enrollment information and more.
  • Be sure to have your People First user ID (PFID) ready and verify your address if you are eligible for or enrolled in state plans.

To locate your PFID, login to the myUFL portal and navigate to: Main Menu > My Self Service > Benefits > PFID & Beneficiary Info. People First passwords expire every 90 days. To reset, log into the People First website and follow the “Forgot Password” instructions. For further assistance, call 1-866-663-4735.

When logging in to People First you will be prompted to verify your address. Please complete the address verification by Sept. 30.

In addition, employees are encouraged to attend UF’s annual Employee Benefits Fair on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Touchdown Terrace at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Benefits Fair is a great opportunity to meet with benefits and retirement vendors and learn more about available plan options. Flu shots will be available to employees providing their UFID and valid insurance ID cards.

Please note that while residents outside of Alachua County may attend a state benefit fair in their local area, UFSelect and GatorCare vendors will only be participating in the UF fair in Gainesville. Check the DMS website closer to Open Enrollment for locations and dates.

If you have questions regarding Open Enrollment please email benefits@ufl.edu or call (352) 392-2477.
