Eligible employees granted administrative leave due to Hurricane Matthew closure

Due to Hurricane Matthew, the University of Florida closed at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, and remained closed through Sunday, Oct. 9. Administrative leave is being granted to eligible employees who were scheduled to work during this time. Anyone who was on pre-approved leave will remain on such leave and will not be eligible to receive the administrative leave.

All non-exempt (excluding OPS) and USPS exempt employees should report hours they were scheduled to work during the closing period via the Weekly Elapsed Screen using the “900-Administrative Leave-EMC” time reporting code.

Essential personnel — those who were required to work during the closing — who are non-exempt (excluding OPS) and USPS exempt will need to record the time they worked during the closing along with the administrative leave in order to accrue special compensatory leave in addition to their normal pay.  If the compensatory leave is not used by the employee within six months following its accrual, the employee will be paid for the leave.

Exempt TEAMS employees and faculty will not need to record the administrative leave through the Weekly Elapsed Screen, but may record their time and leave as they usually do.

Further details for supervisors will be provided via the Time and Leavekeepers listserv this week.
