Participants in both programs, which will begin in the fall of 2018, are selected via a competitive application process.
See the comparison chart to decide which program might be right for you.
The UF Academy was created for emerging leaders at UF and prepares faculty and staff for higher-level responsibilities at the university. The program is open to faculty or exempt employees up to and including employees at the director level with at least two years of supervisory or decision-making responsibility. The two-year supervisory requirement is waived for interested faculty as well as for employees at the assistant director level or above. There is a $500 fee to participate.
Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals is designed for faculty and professionals in leadership positions at UF as a way to support their ongoing development. The program runs throughout the academic year with participants meeting six times, one-to-two days each session, along with two shorter evening meetings; please see the 2017-2018 schedule for details. The program includes 360-degree and other assessments, guest speakers, facilitated discussions, case studies, assigned readings and activities, including a group project. An important element of the program is access to key leaders at UF.
The program includes two tracks—one for academic leaders and the other for professionals (assistant directors and above). Approximately 20 faculty and professionals (10 per track) are selected each year via a competitive application process. This program also is appropriate for those making the “academic” to “administrator” transition. There is a $1,500 fee for this program.
