Preparing for Hurricane Irma

The University of Florida announced this morning that it will close on Sunday, Sept. 10, and Monday, Sept. 11, in anticipation of Hurricane Irma. As the state of Florida braces for one of the strongest hurricanes in history, departments are encouraged to revisit the university’s and their own emergency plans – or, if need be, to put one in place.


UF community exhibits care and concern during difficult times

For the past few weeks, the university’s administration has grappled with difficult conversations and made challenging decisions regarding the presence of a controversial speaker on campus and the potential threat of associated violence and disruption. During this time, faculty, staff and students have come together for discussions and to support one another in a way that reflects the deep care and concern that exist in our community.


Jackie Ayers: A career devoted to helping faculty, staff and students through challenging times

Having a foot in both the physical and mental health spheres has carried on throughout Ayers’ career at UF, where he serves as director of Employee Health Services.  In his current role, Ayers oversees both the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as well as UF’s Occupational Health and Workers’ Comp Services.


UF Physical Plant rebranded as UF Facilities Services

Beginning this month, the UF Physical Plant will be renamed Facilities Services, as a reminder of this ongoing pursuit of excellence, and the university’s responsibilities to maintaining preeminent facilities for a preeminent university.

Beginning Sept. 18, the University of Florida and UF Health Shands will be using an upgraded version of the myTraining system with improved registration options and streamlined appearance for faculty and staff use.


UF welcomes new Title IX Coordinator

The University of Florida recently announced that Russell Froman, Ed.D., would serve as its new Title IX Coordinator. Froman, who began in his new role on Aug. 21, was most recently the deputy Title IX coordinator and student life and behavioral support administrator for P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School.

The University of Florida’s Higher Education Opportunity (HEO) provides children of full-time TEAMS employees with the opportunity of tuition assistance for an undergraduate education at the University of Florida.


Exploring your benefits options during Open Enrollment just got easier

This year’s benefits Open Enrollment period will run Oct. 16 – Nov. 3.  During Open Enrollment, employees may make new elections or changes to their state and UF benefits plans. Changes made during this fall’s Open Enrollment period are effective Jan. 1, 2018.
