Exploring your benefits options during Open Enrollment just got easier

This year’s benefits Open Enrollment period will run Oct. 16 – Nov. 3.  During Open Enrollment, employees may make new elections or changes to their state and UF benefits plans.  Changes made during this fall’s Open Enrollment period are effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Not sure which benefits plans to choose? UF recently introduced ALEX, a new online tool that makes exploring your benefits options easier than ever. Already available to new employees enrolling in 2017 benefits plans, ALEX will be updated with 2018 benefit plan information by the start of this year’s Open Enrollment period. But you can check it out now by visiting the UFHR Benefits & Rewards website.

Here are a few ways you can prepare for Open Enrollment:

  • Have your People First ID (PFID) and password ready. To locate your PFID, login to myUFL and navigate to: Main Menu > My Self Service > Benefits > PFID & Beneficiary Info.  People First passwords expire every 90 days. To reset, log onto the People First website and follow the “Forgot Your Password” instructions. For further assistance, call 1-866-663-4735.
  • Review and update your PeopleFirst and PeopleSoft mailing address information by Sept. 30 to ensure timely delivery of materials. Addresses should be verified and updated in both the myUFL and People First  More information regarding address verification in the People First system is available here.
  • Watch for Open Enrollment packets from PeopleFirst arriving by mail in mid-October, emails from UFHR, and future UF at Work Be sure to read all Open Enrollment materials promptly and carefully.
  • Attend the Employee Benefits & Wellness Fair on October 26. This year’s fair, to be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Champion’s Club at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, will feature some exciting changes, including the addition of information on Wellness opportunities and activities offered throughout campus. This a great opportunity to meet with benefits and retirement vendors, learn more about available plan options, and participate in wellness screenings.   Flu shots will be available to employees providing their UFID and valid insurance ID cards.

Please note that residents outside of Alachua County may attend a state benefit fair in their local area; however, UFSelect and GatorCare vendors will only be participating in the UF Fair in Gainesville.  Check the DMS website closer to Open Enrollment for locations and dates.
