College of Veterinary Medicine Annual Open House
April 21, 2018, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s Annual Open House will be held on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The college and UF veterinary students work together to host a fun and educational free event each year for the community that includes:
- Tours of the UF Large and Small Animal Hospitals
- Talks and educational demonstrations that will highlight various techniques used by UF veterinarians to treat animals for a variety of health problems
- Demonstrations by the Marion County mounted patrol, Gainesville Police Department’s K-9 team and the UF Police Department’s K-9 unit
- Lameness locator demonstrations
- Equine treadmill demonstrations
- Florida State Agricultural Response Team disaster/animal rescue demonstrations
- Games and prizes for kids provided by the college’s student organizations
- A food truck rally featuring local eateries
- A teddy Bear Clinic for kids—bring torn teddy bears for repair by UF veterinary students and the Alachua Veterinary Medical Association
- Gypsy Gold Vanner Horses
- Gainesville Rabbit Rescue handling demonstrations
- Chris P. Bacon, the pig on wheels
- Wildlife Forensics Mobile Unit
