A more perfect union

he J. Wayne Reitz Union’s $70.7 million, 2 1/2-year renovation and expansion opened on Feb. 1 to the UF community. Students, faculty and staff can now access most of the spaces, as construction crews put the finishing touches on the interior.


Board of Trustees votes to implement merit increase for in-unit faculty

On Jan. 28, the University Board of Trustees held a special session to resolve the impasse between the University of Florida and the United Faculty of Florida (UFF). Following presentations by the university and UFF, the trustees voted to implement a 2.5 percent merit increase effective Jan. 1, 2016, for in-unit faculty.


New IRS Form 1095 to be distributed to employees

Beginning this year, employees will receive a new IRS form to assist in preparing their income tax returns—the 1095-C, Employer Provided Insurance Offer and Coverage.


Multi-year effort underway to modernize, unify student services systems

On Feb. 2, Vice Presidents Zina Evans and Elias Eldayrie announced the launch of a multi-year effort to modernize and unify the University of Florida’s student services systems. The Campus-wide Modernization Program to Advance Student Services—or COMPASS—will be implemented in a series of releases over the next five years.


UF Faculty and Staff Climate Survey update

The UF Faculty & Staff Climate Survey, designed to help determine how well the university fosters a sense of belonging for its faculty and staff, opened on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and closed on Friday, Nov. 27, with an overall response rate from faculty and staff of approximately 36 percent.


UF On Target project team to implement new TEAMS titles in stages

In November, UF supervisors and HR representatives mapped the university’s filled TEAMS positions to titles developed under the auspices of the UF On Target project.

The University of Florida Police Department, in coordination with University of Florida Student Government, released “GatorSafe” in 2015, replacing TapShield.


Flex spending account grace period available through March 15

If you have not used all the money in your 2015 flexible spending account (FSA), there is still time. The state’s FSAs feature an annual grace period that enables participants to continue to use medical and dependent care accounts for eligible expenses from Jan. 1 through March 15.


FRS pension plan annual statements’ distribution linked to date of birth

Beginning this year, the Florida Retirement System (FRS) Pension Plan Member Annual Statements (MASs) are being distributed to active FRS pension plan members during their month of birth.
