FLSA changes go into effect Dec. 1

As previously covered in UF at Work, changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will result in a significant number of positions becoming eligible for overtime pay when time worked exceeds 40 hours in a week. These changes will go into effect on Dec. 1 and are expected to affect upwards of 1,300 employees, primarily staff.


Ann Christiano: Championing the public interest through strategic communications

Christiano joined UF in 2010 as the Frank Karel Chair in Public Interest Communications, where she has developed the nation’s first public interest communication program, dedicated to using strategic communications to drive change. This spring, in partnership with UF Training and Organizational Development, Christiano and a team of communications professionals will launch a new Strategic Communications Academy designed for UF leaders and scholars.


2017 Benefits Open Enrollment ends Nov. 4

During Open Enrollment employees can make changes and elections to State and UF benefit plans through the appropriate online portals. Elections made during OE are effective Jan. 1, 2017.


December Leave Cash-out period is Nov. 4–15

TEAMS employees are eligible to cash out up to 16 hours of vacation leave — regardless of FTE — during the pay period of Nov. 4 to 17, provided 40 hours of vacation leave remain on balance after the end of that pay period. Eligible participants will receive the cash-out payment in their Nov. 23 paycheck.

New look and feel for UF login page, effective Nov. 6

A new login page for all services requiring GatorLink authentication will go live on Sunday, Nov. 6. The login page has been redesigned to match the updated UF web template and brand standards launched in spring of 2016.
