Tips for shopping safely this holiday season

It’s possible to be vigilant about cyber-crime and still enjoy holiday shopping. Here are some tips, whether you are searching for that perfect gift at the mall or on your phone.

Employee Education Program accepting applications for the spring semester

The Employee Education Program, or EEP, enables full-time UF Academic Personnel, TEAMS employees, and USPS employees who have been employed in good standing for at least six months to receive tuition assistance for up to six credit hours of instruction per semester at the state university closest to their work location.

Be sure to enter your holiday time and leave early

UF Leave Administration encourages you to enter your time and leave early as you make preparations for time off during the holidays. All TEAMS and Academic Personnel identified by their departments as “essential employees” may enter December personal leave beginning on Monday, Dec. 12. Additionally, on Monday, Dec. 12, USPS employees may enter advanced vacation leave that will be used between Dec. 27–30.

USPS employees may be advanced vacation leave

USPS employees are not eligible for the four personal leave days, but they may be required to use vacation or accrued compensatory leave during the holiday closing period if a department chooses to close or upon supervisory request.

Year-end vacation leave conversion slated for January

The annual vacation leave conversion process will take place at the end of the pay period covering Dec. 30, 2016, through Jan. 12, 2017. Employees with vacation hours exceeding the annual maximum will automatically be converted into their sick leave balance.

Review December and January paychecks for insurance deductions

Each payday, especially following Open Enrollment, it’s important to confirm that your insurance premiums are being deducted correctly. A majority of state plans’ premiums, with exception of flexible spending accounts, are deducted a month in advance.

Retirement plan contribution limits unchanged for 2017

The IRS announced the retirement plan contribution limits for 2017 will remain the same as the 2016 limits.
