life-insuranceMinnesota Life now known as Securian

Minnesota Life, the provider of the State of Florida’s group life insurance plan, has adopted the brand name of its parent company, Securian Financial Group, Inc. (Securian).

Although you’ll see the new brand reflected in the material you receive from Securian, you won’t see any changes to your group life insurance coverage or premium rates as a result of this change.

For more information about Securian, visit www.securian.com. For customer service, call 1-888-826-2756.

Have you checked your life insurance beneficiaries lately?

While beneficiary information for your life insurance plans may be updated at any time during the year, Open Enrollment provides an opportunity to review and verify your information. Keeping your designations up to date ensures that your life benefits are paid to the person or people that you intended. With various life plans offered at UF, beneficiaries are collected and maintained differently based upon the plan in which you are enrolled.

Basic and optional life insurance (state life plans) are maintained by Securian (formerly Minnesota Life Insurance Company). To add, check or change beneficiaries, log on to the Securian website to access your record. Designations or changes can also be made by completing the state life designation form and returning it to the address on the top of the form.

UF Term Life and College Life plans along with beneficiaries (UF plans are with The Standard) are maintained in the myUFL portal. Review the Benefits Summary & Beneficiary instruction guide to view your life plan summary and update your designation in the myUFL portal if enrolled. Instructions for Setting a Trust as your beneficiary are also available to help ensure that you enter the name of your trust correctly in the portal.

As a reminder, your beneficiary designations for state life plans should not be updated in the myUFL portal and should be updated directly with Minnesota Life.
