Outreach clinic provides immersive experience for medical students while supporting the community

UF’s Mobile Outreach Clinic (MOC) provides an immersive service learning experience for College of Medicine students while supporting uninsured and underserved residents of Alachua and surrounding counties.

Without a means to obtain the prescriptions for their health maintenance medications, many of the individuals the clinic serves, including essential service workers, would not be able to continue to show up for work day after day. MOC was one of the few, and at times only, free clinic that has remained open daily during the pandemic. In addition, MOC has partnered with other UF departments, such as the Emerging Pathogens Institute, to expand service offerings during non-traditional hours.

In lieu of its annual formal gala, this year during the week of November 16-20, a virtual fundraising event will be held to support the MOC. Patient, student and community partner testimonials will be posted daily. To nominate someone for an award or to donate to the program, visit the MOC website.
