Three UF faculty members honored with Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers

Three University of Florida faculty members recently received one of the highest honors bestowed upon scientists by the U.S. government, the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE).

“We are so proud of our esteemed researchers and the exceptional contributions they have made to their fields,” said Joe Glover, Ph.D., UF’s interim provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “The recognition highlights the important work being done at the University of Florida.”


UF Career Influencer Awards nominations due March 15

The UF Career Influencer Awards celebrate collaboration and innovation on the part of UF Career Connections Center partners who have had an exceptional impact on career development and career engagements during the preceding academic year.

Nominations, including self-nominations, are due March 15, and award winners will be announced during the annual Faculty & Staff Career Symposium on April 25.


Creating connections: A program coordinator’s award-winning debut

Anna Spaschak, Program Coordinator for Special Populations in the Division of Student Life’s Center for New Student and Family Programs, supports orientation and transition efforts with a focus on both UF Online and transfer student populations. This past spring, Spaschak won a University-Level Superior Accomplishment Award for Rookie of the Year.


An all-star advisor’s impact: Helping students find their path and purpose

Thomas Garvey, an academic advisor in the College of Journalism and Communications, or CJC, has worked for the University of Florida for four years. In addition to his advising duties, Garvey recently served as the primary presenter for the CJC’s presentations at First-Year Student Preview, where he was able to introduce students to available programs and opportunities. This past spring, Garvey won a University-Level Superior Accomplishment Award for Individual Employee Performance in the Student, Academic & Alumni Services category.
