Take steps now to ensure you receive benefits open enrollment communications

In the coming weeks, the State of Florida will be sending communications about insurance benefit choices and changes via email — rather than to your home mailing address — in advance of this year’s Open Enrollment period, which will run Oct. 16–Nov. 3.

To ensure you receive benefits correspondence, now is the time to verify and update your contact information as needed in both the State of Florida’s People First system and ONE.UF. Visit the Benefits website for a step-by-step guide.

Explore ways to add to your retirement savings

With tax season upon us, now is a great time to review your savings plans to ensure you’re maximizing your contributions. In addition to the mandatory state retirement plans offered — including the voluntary State of Florida Deferred Compensation Plan, or 457(b) — as a UF employee you may also participate in a voluntary 403(b) plan to supplement your retirement via payroll deductions.

Both the 403(b) and 457(b) plans are voluntary savings plans available to faculty, TEAMS, USPS and OPS employees — including housestaff/residents, graduate assistants, postdocs and adjunct faculty. Read on for a breakdown of each plan.

It’s tax time — be on the lookout for your IRS Forms W-2 and 1095-C

By now you should be able to access your Form W-2 in myUFL or the ONE.UF application, or you should soon be receiving it in the mail.

Have you reviewed your 2023 paycheck statements?
