UF faculty and staff rise to the challenge of working through COVID-19

Faculty and staff have worked at record speed in recent weeks to adapt to changes brought on by the rapid spread of the coronavirus in the United States and throughout the world. This week, university leaders were asked to begin allowing employees to work from home and are encouraged to be innovative and adaptable to accommodate this wherever possible.

Happy Holidays! Reminders for the holiday closing period and year-end

The University of Florida will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, and Wednesday, Jan. 1, as well as the holiday closing period of Dec. 26 through 31, and will reopen on Thursday, Jan. 2. As you make preparations for time off during the holidays, be sure to enter your time and leave early.

Department of Labor announces changes to Fair Labor Standards Act

Last month, the Department of Labor announced a change to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that will take effect Jan. 1, 2020. The department expects the changes to FLSA will extend overtime pay protections to more than 1.3 million workers.


Florida minimum wage increase effective Jan. 1

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity recently announced that the state minimum wage will increase 10 cents from $8.46 to $8.56 per hour.
