What UF employees need to know about access to COVID-19 vaccinations

As UF Health Screen, Test & Protect Director Dr. Michael Lauzardo shared in his update to the UF community yesterday, despite uncertainty about vaccine availability, the UF Health team is working closely with the state and Alachua County’s branch of the Florida Department of Health to continue to expand access to COVID-19 vaccinations throughout the community.

Vaccine allocation and distribution are managed at the state level, so the ability to offer vaccines depends on the number and timing of doses received. UF Health is following the state’s and the CDC’s recommendations for cohorts of eligible persons to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, with the ultimate goal of offering the vaccine to anyone who wants to be vaccinated once there is a sufficient supply.

If you have not received an invitation to get a vaccine at UF Health, please visit the website of your local health department to see if you meet their eligibility criteria to register and/or to schedule an appointment. Information for those located in Gainesville may be found on the Alachua County Department of Health website. If you are located outside of Alachua County, please visit the Florida COVID-19 Response website for the latest vaccine locations and information.
