Has your department inadvertently received a tax credit notice?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires large employers to offer healthcare coverage to full-time employees. Employees have the opportunity to utilize the Healthcare Marketplace to obtain health insurance coverage and, as such, may qualify for a premium tax credit. Because large employers like the University of Florida may be subject to a substantial penalty if even one full-time employee offered coverage from the university receives a premium tax credit, UF has partnered with Ernst & Young to help administer portions of the ACA.

It is important that the Healthcare Marketplace is aware of any employee who was offered coverage through UF, both for the protection of the university and so the employee does not inadvertently receive a premium tax credit that he or she may have to pay back.

Ernst & Young will be processing all premium tax credit notices generated by the Healthcare Marketplace. It is possible that a Healthcare Marketplace may send a premium tax credit notice to a UF location instead of sending directly to Ernst & Young. If this occurs, please send the notice to Stewart V. King, director of University Benefits, via one of the following methods as soon as possible, as appeals and responses are due to the Marketplace within 90 days from the issue date.
