Has your department received a “Letter 226j”?

Published: February 2, 2021 3:59 pm

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) continues to enforce the Employer Shared Responsibility Payment requirement (“Employer Mandate”) in the Affordable Care Act and is mailing notices to employers who may owe a penalty for calendar year 2020. The State of Florida and UF have 30 days from the date of the letter to respond.

The notice of assessment is sent in the form of a “Letter 226j” from the Department of the Treasury Internal Revenue Service. If you or your department receive this communication, please forward it to UFHR Benefits Office as soon as possible to help UF avoid penalties. You can forward the letter to the Benefits Office in any of the following ways:

• Fax: (352) 392-5166, Attn: Shannon Edwards, Director of University Benefits
