Emerging Pathogens Institute Research Day: Abstract deadline
Research Day for the Emerging Pathogens Institute will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Reitz Union Rion Ballroom (third floor). The day will provide an opportunity for investigators in the field of emerging pathogens/infectious diseases to showcase their work and meet other investigators and potential collaborators with similar interests. The institute encourages anyone working in the field to submit an abstract for the Research Day poster session, which will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The deadline for abstract submissions is Friday, Jan. 18.

Students, post-docs and faculty are strongly encouraged to submit research poster presentations dealing with emerging pathogens/infectious diseases. While posters with new, original data are preferred, posters submitted at national meetings within the past 18 months are acceptable for presentation. Submissions from other universities and from local/county/state health departments are also welcome. Last year, a record number of 166 posters were presented, which will hopefully be surpassed this year.
Abstracts:
- Don’t forget to check your abstract for errors.
- Abstracts will be printed in the Research Day abstract booklet. You will receive an email confirming the acceptance of your abstract once you hit “submit.” If you do not receive this, please contact us at EPI-ResearchDay@epi.ufl.edu.
- There is a 400-word maximum on your abstract. This is only for the abstract. You may have more than 400 words on your poster.
- You may submit more than one abstract.
- Poster presentations may include new data or may reflect material that has been presented at national meetings within the past 18 months.
Posters:
- Poster boards are 4′ tall and 5′ wide.
- Font size should be no less than 14 pt for paragraph text and 18 pt for sub-titles. 36-pt text or larger is ideal for the poster title. Sans serif fonts are best for paragraph body texts. You will want to make sure that your poster can be read from a distance.
