Small gestures with big meaning

A new service project is bringing comfort to patients through hand-carved wooden symbols created by UF PHHP Clinical Assistant Professor Sharon DiFino, Ph.D. What began as a therapeutic hobby during her recovery from long COVID evolved into a meaningful act of compassion, with students helping deliver the handcrafted pieces and personal notes to cancer patients at UF Health Shands Hospital.
