More than 100 children of TEAMS employees awarded Higher Education Opportunity scholarship

On March 27, 114 eligible applicants for the Higher Education Opportunity (HEO) were notified that they had been awarded the 2019 HEO scholarship.

The university’s HEO program provides children of full-time TEAMS employees with the opportunity of tuition assistance for an undergraduate education at the University of Florida. (If the student is not accepted to UF, the benefit may be used at any public community or state college in Florida.)

This year, 147 HEO applications were received. After verifying the eligibility of all applicants and ensuring that each child had applied for admission to UF, 114 applicants were eligible to receive the scholarship. Last year, the university expanded this benefit from 50 to 150 recipients.

UFHR has received multiple responses from TEAMS employees expressing how thrilled they were to receive the exciting news.

“This is absolutely wonderful news! I cannot express my gratitude enough to you, your team, President Fuchs and the University of Florida for this opportunity for my daughter,” wrote one recipient. “She is ecstatic!”
