2018-2019 Pay Program: One-time performance payments, minimum wage increase

Earlier this week, UF President Kent Fuchs announced an incentive plan for one-time performance payments to UF faculty and staff and an increase in the university’s minimum wage.

Effective July 1, 2018, the university’s minimum wage for TEAMS and USPS employees will increase from $12 to $13 per hour.

Also, an aggregate performance payment pool of 4 percent will be distributed as one-time lump sum payments on the basis of merit and market as determined by unit supervisors to employees on payroll as of June 30, 2018. These performance payments will be distributed on December 21, 2018. Although the overall pool is 4 percent of payroll, the amount an individual receives will depend on merit and market.

UF is committed to providing compensation that is competitive with the very best universities in the nation. This past year, UF was not provided funds for recurring compensation increases and thus is using university reserves to fund the 4 percent incentive pool and reallocations to fund the increase in minimum wage.

Compensation plans for employees in a bargaining unit are subject to union negotiation, and a tentative agreement has been reached with AFSCME.

Additional details about implementing the minimum wage increase or eligibility criteria for the one-time performance payments will be forthcoming from UF Human Resources.
