Preparing for hurricanes and tropical storms

Hurricane season is upon us and continues through Nov. 30. In order to stay safe and prepared, departments are encouraged to revisit the university’s and their own emergency plans—or, if need be, to put one in place.

Any announcements regarding UF’s response to storms, including schedule changes or cancellations, will be made through official UF channels. Announcements will be posted to the UF homepage and distributed via the UF Alert system and through email as information becomes available.

UF emergency preparedness information is available on Twitter at @UFPublicSafety. In addition, the Florida Public Radio Emergency Network offers Florida Storms, a free, mobile weather application that provides a simple way to stay informed of potential weather and other hazards. It is available through the Apple App Store and for Android on Google Play. You can also access the UF Weather Center here.

UF’s Emergency Management website provides a wealth of hurricane preparedness information and resources, including hurricane tracking, to assist both individuals and departments prepare for a tropical storm or other emergencies.

Stay connected and safe this season!
