Ready for the holidays? December leave cash-out open through Nov. 13, offices may close Dec. 24

If you are a TEAMS employee, you may be eligible to cash out up to 16 hours of vacation leave during the pay period of Nov. 2 to 15 if you have at least 40 hours of vacation leave remaining on balance after the end of that pay period. Eligible participants will receive the cash-out payment in their Nov. 21 paycheck.

To participate, report the number of hours you wish to cash out by entering them in the Elapsed Timesheet in the myUFL system. You must report the hours between Nov. 5 and Nov. 13 using the “DLC – 280 December Vacation Leave” time reporting code on a day when you are not scheduled to work (to prevent the “exceeds 24 hours” exception).

Please note: The DLC time reporting code can only be entered in myUFL between Nov.  5 and Nov. 13. The code is “locked” until Nov. 5 and will be locked again after 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 13. It will not be possible to enter DLC after this time.

Each department is responsible for ensuring no more than 16 hours of an employee’s vacation leave are cashed out and that 40 hours of vacation leave remain on balance after the end of the Nov. 2–15 pay period.

An instruction guide called “Reporting December Leave Cash-Out” is available to assist you in reporting the cash-out, or you may contact Leave Administration at or (352) 392-2477.

Optional office closings on Dec. 24

In a recent issue of UF at Work, we shared information about upcoming UF holidays and ways to prepare for time off this holiday season.

Please note that although Monday, Dec. 24, is not a UF holiday, employees may use vacation leave that day with the permission of their supervisor. As a reminder, all requests for vacation leave should be submitted to the employee’s supervisor with as much advance notice as possible.

Units may also choose to close with the approval of the appropriate dean or vice president. Should they choose to do so, all of the unit’s leave-accruing employees will be required to use vacation leave for the day. Vacation leave may be advanced to eligible employees who do not have an adequate accrued balance to cover the closing.
