Two opportunities to boost your leadership skills and expertise
The UF Academy (for emerging leaders) and Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals (for experienced leaders) are now accepting applications for their 2019–2020 cohorts. If you’re looking to boost your leadership skills and expertise, you may be the perfect candidate for one of UFHR Training & Organizational Development’s yearlong immersive leadership programs.
Applications for both programs are due Friday, May 3. Participants in both programs, which will begin in fall 2019, will be selected via a competitive application process.
Which program is right for you?
The UF Academy
The UF Academy was created for emerging leaders at UF. Designed for exempt employees up to and including the director level as well as interested faculty, the UF Academy prepares employees for higher-level responsibilities at UF.
Applicants should either have two or more years of supervisory or decision-making responsibilities at UF, be in a faculty position or be at the assistant director level or above. (The two-year supervisory requirement is waived for interested faculty and employees at the assistant director level or above.) There is a $500 fee to participate.
Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals
Advanced Leadership for Academics and Professionals (ALAP) is designed to support the ongoing development of faculty and professionals in leadership positions at UF. The program runs throughout the academic year with participants meeting six times, for one to two days each session, along with two shorter evening meetings.
The program includes 360-degree and other assessments, guest speakers, facilitated discussions, case studies, assigned readings and activities, including a group project. An important element of the program is access to key leaders at UF. The program consists of two tracks—one for academic leaders and one for professionals (assistant directors and above). Approximately 20 faculty and professionals (10 per track) are selected each year. The program is also appropriate for those making the academic-to-administrator transition. There is a $1,500 fee for this program.
