What Language Does the Authentic Haitian Speak?: Linguistic Rights and Choices in the Haitian Literary Context with Nadève Ménard

Tuesday, April 16, 4:30 p.m.

Ustler Hall Atrium
162 Fletcher Drive
Gainesville, FL 32611

Nadève Ménard, PhD, of École Normale Supérieure of Université d’État d’Haïti, will examine Haiti’s complex linguistic landscape in order to dispel the myth that there is a vast population of monolingual Haitian Creole readers being ignored by Haitian authors who choose to write in French.

The event is part of the “Beyond Borders, Across Boundaries: Black and LatinX Knowledge Formations” speakers series and is free and open to the public.
