Calling all orange juice fans
A new University of Florida research study is exploring a simple but surprisingly complex question: what influences the way people choose orange juice?
Researchers are seeking participants to help evaluate consumer preferences for orange juice and better understand how knowledge, behavioral traits and sociodemographic factors shape the way people respond to different product attributes.
During the 30-minute session, participants will complete a series of interactive tasks where they choose between orange juice products, view images and product information and share their opinions on statements related to food and food production. In addition, participants will answer questions about their background, personality traits, food knowledge and risk preferences.
To better understand how people process this information, researchers will also measure brain activity and visual attention during the session. Participants will wear a lightweight EEG cap fitted with small sensors placed on the scalp using conductive gel to monitor brain activity. An eye-tracking device mounted at the bottom of the computer screen will record where participants look as they make their choices.
Who Can Participate?
To ensure accurate results, the study has specific eligibility requirements. Participants must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Consume orange juice at least occasionally
- Be right-handed
- Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have no color blindness
- Have no dietary restrictions or chronic medical conditions
- Not be taking medications that affect cognitive function
- Not be employed or interning in juice or beverage manufacturing, food labeling regulation, agricultural biotechnology or consumer insights/market research
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident for compensation purposes
Individuals who do not meet these criteria will not be able to participate or receive compensation, even if they arrive for the session. Reviewing the requirements carefully before scheduling is strongly encouraged.
The study will take place in Fifield Hall, Room 1549, and free parking is available. Participants who complete the study will receive $50 via Zelle.
