Trees provide hope in slowing the rate of climate change – but they can’t do it alone

By sequestering large amounts of atmospheric carbon, trees provide us with clean air and essential wood products, yet the world has lost around a billion acres of forest since 1990. A recent article by the UF Thompson Earth Systems Institute, or TESI, highlights the dangers of deforestation, current restoration efforts and the need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
