Join Director Brian Jose Wednesday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m., as he unveils the University of Florida Performing Arts 2017-2018 season.
Having grown up an athlete who was on his way to a career in finance or another “left-brained” field, Brian Jose’s trajectory made a sudden shift when he heard Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik for the first time while on hold on the phone one day. In his early 20s at the time, Jose’s life took a distinct turn into the right-brained world of the arts that day, and he never looked back.
Brian Jose, director of University of Florida Performing Arts (UFPA), recently announced the 2016-17 season, featuring more than 40 events from September through April. Jose said the celebration of UFPA’s 25th anniversary season is a reflection of both UFPA’s storied past and its future.
The University of Florida School of Theatre + Dance will present “Puffs; or, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic,” a new play currently in development by a team of award-winning artists and producers.
The University of Florida’s Friends of Music and Friends of Theatre + Dance present Splendor: Enchantment at Sea, a benefit gala for UF’s School of Music and School of Theatre + Dance on Sunday, March 13, in the Nadine McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion at UF.
UF alumni from throughout the country will return to campus on Saturday, Feb. 20, to perform in and attend a special concert, “Bobby Shew Live,” featuring the UF Jazz Band and Gary Langford.
Breathe, the story of one man’s journey to live beyond the odds, comes to the Squitieri Studio Theatre, located in the West Wing of the Phillips Center Jan. 16-17.
UF’s School of Theatre + Dance will present Spill, a captivating new play about the Deepwater Horizon oil spill of 2010 written by Leigh Fondakowski in collaboration with visual artist Reeva Wortel, Jan. 29-Feb. 7 in Constans Theatre located in the Nadine McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion.
