Library West to open 24/7 in the fall semester
Beginning this fall, overnight library hours will return to Library West for fall and spring semesters. Based on student survey results, UF’s student government will fund and expand Library West’s hours to 24/7 to meet student preferences. The extended hours will ensure that there is a dedicated study space on campus with continuous operating hours.
Printers, course reserves, group study rooms and other resources, along with Starbucks, will also be available the same hours that the library is open. Library West features seating for approximately 1,400, 16 group study rooms, dedicated graduate student study space on the sixth floor, printers and 200 computers on floors one through three. Additionally, the recently added One Button Studio enables students to create professional quality videos by simply pressing a button.
“It is wonderful that Student Government is providing Library West with additional funding to offer 24-hour services to students,” said Jana Ronan, chair of Library West. “As we transition overnight hours from Marston Science Library to Library West, our goal is to provide an optimal study environment. Students and other library users are encouraged to continue providing feedback, to help us achieve this goal.”
