All non-essential operations at UF’s Gainesville campus to close at 3 p.m. this Friday

In anticipation of an influx of approximately 35,000 people attending this year’s University-Wide Commencement on the evening of Friday, May 5, all non-essential University of Florida operations in Alachua County will close at 3 p.m. to allow those not participating in commencement activities or otherwise deemed essential to leave early. Your dean, director, vice president or immediate supervisor will determine if you are considered essential personnel.

Faculty with an on-campus make-up exam scheduled during the 3 to 5 p.m. time period on May 5 should proceed with this activity as planned. In addition, all patient care activities in UF Health hospitals and UF Health Physicians practices will continue as scheduled; UF Health faculty and staff supporting patient care activities are among those considered essential personnel and will work their normal schedules.

Administrative leave may be granted to those affected by this closure. To ensure everyone is paid accurately, faculty and staff who would normally work during this time should adhere to the time reporting and approval deadlines and follow guidelines provided on the UFHR website.
