Higher Education Opportunity scholarship applications due Nov. 1

The University of Florida’s Higher Education Opportunity, or HEO, scholarship provides children of full-time TEAMS employees with tuition assistance for an undergraduate education at UF. In March 2022, 150 TEAMS employees will be randomly selected by Human Resource Services from a pool of eligible applicants to participate in the HEO.

Each eligible employee may submit one child’s name into the drawing. To be considered for this benefit, the TEAMS employee must apply for the HEO scholarship by Nov. 1, 2021

For the child of each selected employee, UF will pay the in-state matriculation fees — the actual tuition minus any additional fees for capital improvement, financial aid, technology, activity and service, athletic, health, transportation, etc. — for up to twelve credit hours during the fall and spring semesters and six credit hours during the summer semesters. Please note that any Bright Futures scholarship award will be subtracted from the amount the student can receive from the HEO. Provided the student remains eligible for the program, the HEO scholarship will assist with the student’s tuition until they have accumulated a maximum of 132 credit hours. Please visit the HEO website to learn about additional eligibility requirements.

To be entered into the HEO drawing, the full-time TEAMS employee must:

Submit a completed HEO application to UF Training and Organizational Development no later than Nov. 1, 2021.

The child of the full-time TEAMS employee must:

  1. Apply for admission to the University of Florida no later than Nov. 1, 2021.
  1. Graduate from high school before the beginning of the 2022 academic year.

The University of Florida admissions process and the HEO selection process are separate. All UF admissions-related inquires, including eligibility, should be directed to and confirmed by the Office of Admissions. If a child is not accepted to UF, the benefit may be used at a public community or state college in the state of Florida.
