Humanities series seeks to engage community participation

This spring, UF’s Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere will host Imagining Florida, five lectures and discussions showcasing different humanistic foci. Running between January and April 2016, all events are free and encourage public participation.

The series kicks off Jan. 9, at the Alachua County District Library Headquarters branch and will feature A Conversation on Writing with award-winning Gainesville author Lauren Groff. Descriptions of subsequent events can be found here.

 Imagining Florida is also interactive. Each event in the series offers the opportunity for participants to create a crowd-sourced digital collaboration project based on social media prompts. The goal is to record all of the images, issues and impressions crucial to our experiences of using the humanities to create a sense of place in Florida and, finally, to come together at THATCamp to curate and complete a public digital project.
