UF Engaged: Enhancing staff evaluations 

Last year, UFHR undertook a comprehensive review of the UF Engaged system to improve its effectiveness. This involved gathering feedback through focus groups with staff from various university areas, individual interviews with managers and employees, and an open-response survey conducted by the UF Faculty Senate in collaboration with the President’s Office. 


2024 Superior Accomplishment Awards recognize outstanding and meritorious service

Twenty staff and faculty members representing a wide range of experience and hailing from UF locations throughout Florida were recognized for their outstanding service in a ceremony held yesterday at the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. 


Cultivating leadership competencies to help advance UF’s mission

When Associate Provost for Strategic Initiatives David Reed, Ph.D., joined the ALAP program, he expanded his institutional knowledge and network of colleagues, gaining the skills needed to significantly contribute to the advancement of the University of Florida.

We are pleased to announce the launch of two new UFHR websites. A website improvement group comprising more than 600 UF faculty, staff and leadership provided vital feedback throughout the redesign process to help inform our efforts. Thank you to all of those who participated!


Service Recognition celebration honors longtime UF staff

Last month, UF staff who celebrated 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 continuous years of service at UF in 2023 gathered for a special event in their honor. One of the honorees was Glinda Burnett, administrative specialist at the UF Entomology and Nematology Department, who at 50 years at UF had the longest tenure commemorated during the event.

Win Phillips, longtime UF leader, dies at 83

Win Phillips, a longtime UF leader known for his depth of knowledge of the university, versatility and thoughtful advice to the many people who sought it, died Saturday. He was 83.

Phillips, who arrived at UF in 1988 as dean of engineering, served in several different leadership positions before retiring in June. He was highly regarded for his proficiency as a generalist, able to take the reins and push forward whatever he was overseeing, while always focusing on the greater UF and its rise as a top public university.
