Summer movie series and new showcase at the Florida Museum

On Friday nights through July 27, the Florida Museum and Creative B will host free movie screenings that explore the relationship between science and art. In honor of the museum’s latest exhibit “Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats,” this year’s films will incorporate a bat theme and include discussions with an expert panel. Panel discussions start at 7 p.m., with the movie to follow. Learn more here or call (352) 273-2061.

“Wondrous Creatures: Where Science and Art Intersect”—the museum’s latest showcase—is a unique experience presented in collaboration with local artist Ariel Bowman. Five sculptures of prehistoric animals displayed among 18th-century furniture offer guests a different look at life in the past while panels illustrate the process of turning a piece of clay into art. The display is free for all visitors and open through Sept. 16. Learn more here or call (352) 846-2000.
