Employee Assistance Program offers free individual and group support services
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) provides a wide range of services to employees. Services include individual employee evaluations, short-term therapy and referrals to community providers. Counseling sessions are confidential and address situations such as:
- Work performance difficulties
- Alcohol or other drug misuse
- Relationship and family difficulties
- Social problems
- Emotional concerns
- Occupational or personal stress
- Eldercare and parenting issues
- Health concerns
- Conflict resolution
The EAP also provides workshops on a variety of topics that relate to both occupational and personal topics. Workshops are typically one hour, and topics include the following:
- Smoking cessation
- Stress management
- Working through grief
- Conflict management
- Understanding depression
- Anger management
- Relationship stress
- Healthy relationships
- Assertiveness training
This list is not exhaustive, and departments can make requests for specific topics of interest. Additionally, EAP staff can provide grief counseling after the loss of a co-worker or help employees debrief in the event of an emergency or urgent situation.
