Apply today for June mindfulness series

apply today for june mindfulnessUF-UF Health Wellness will host a four-week “Tools for a Mindful Life” series led by Nancy Lasseter, Ed.S., LMHC, for faculty and staff interested in exploring mindfulness practices.  The series is available at no cost to benefits-eligible employees.  Enrollment is limited to 18 participants with applications being accepted through Friday, May 20.

This four-week intensive will provide the opportunity to restore inner resources to live a more mindful life that are often ignored, neglected or unseen.  Mindfulness practices in the program are derived from the evidence-based eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by the University of Massachusetts’ Center for Mindfulness.

Ms. Lasseter has taught MBSR since 2004 and is a wellness instructor with UF Health Integrative Medicine as well as a licensed mental health counselor. She is also a member of the new UF Mindfulness project launched earlier in the fall.

Participants will be asked to commit to attend all four sessions and to complete 20 minutes of formal mindfulness practices daily. Class instruction will include the mindful body scan, qigong meditative movement, mindful eating, and mindful sitting and walking—as well as mindful communications, including both compassion and gratitude practices.

All of the practices taught are designed to re-wire the brain for greater overall well-being and happiness. To learn more about the program and to complete an application, please click here.  For answers to questions about this series, please email hrs-wellness@ufl.edu.
