UF’s Reitz Union Launches Gator Market, an Outdoor Marketplace Experience

Bringing the charm of a local market to campus, the Reitz Union’s monthly Gator Market invites students, faculty, and the Gainesville community to explore an outdoor marketplace full of unique vendors and local flair. Located at the heart of campus, just outside the Reitz Union on their North Lawn, Gator Market offers attendees a chance to explore a wide variety of local products and unique services.

From handcrafted goods and fresh produce to informative displays from university departments and student organizations, Gator Market offers a new lineup of vendors, campus groups, and student-owned businesses every month, offering fresh products and unique experiences for everyone. Its central location and convenient timing make it the perfect stop between classes or during a break to meet friends, shop and engage with the campus community.

“We created Gator Market to foster connection and provide a unique experience right here on campus,” shared Rebecca Schlafke, programs and services specialist at the Reitz Union and organizer of Gator Market. “Our goal is to offer students and community members an opportunity to enjoy a market atmosphere where they can support local vendors, discover campus resources and celebrate the diversity of our community.”

The UF and broader Gainesville communities are invited to attend the Gator Market launch on Jan. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Reitz Union on the North Lawn of the University of Florida. Attendees will enjoy an exciting atmosphere with a group of local businesses, student organizations and campus departments showcasing everything from artisanal goods to interactive experiences.

The Gator Market will occur monthly throughout the spring semester. For the latest news, upcoming dates and vendor applications, visit the Gator Market website at union.ufl.edu/gatormarket and follow the @reitzunion on Instagram and Facebook.
