UF faculty and staff have access to a wide variety of on- and off-campus resources. From academic books and journals to business resources and take-home equipment, explore the top ten library resources for UF employees.
E-Newspapers
Along with free institutional access to the NY Times and Wall Street Journal, you have access to thousands of other news sources through databases like Access World News and ProQuest News & Newspapers.
Streaming Video & DVDs and DVD players
The library has access to streaming video platforms like Swank that include documentaries and feature films. Library West also has a collection of over 10,000 DVDs—everything from documentaries to award-winning films and popular television series. No DVD player? No problem—you can check out a portable DVD player or DVD drive at the front desk.
Recreational Reading
The libraries provide access to “fun stuff,” too. Find popular novels and bestsellers as well as graphic novels, cookbooks and more. Remember—your GatorOne card is your library card.
YA and Children’s Books
The UF Libraries have a huge circulating children’s book collection at the UF Education Library along with YA novels at both Education and Library West. Check out some books for your child or yourself!
Academic Books & Journals
Find academic books and articles via the Primo Search tool, and follow your favorite journals through the Browzine platform.
Archives and Special Collections
The UF Libraries house premier special collections with substantial holdings of rare print materials, maps, archives and manuscripts. The digital collections include popular items like a full run of The Alligator and digitized UF Yearbooks.
Take Home Equipment
All UF affiliates can check out take-home equipment across the 6 libraries on campus, which includes everything from GoPro’s and podcasting kits to sewing machines and tools.
Business Resources
The libraries provide access to business databases for finding proprietary company, industry and consumer info, as well as several trade platforms like Ad Week, PR Week and the Harvard Business Review.
Spaces
There are 7 libraries on campus, all with unique collections and a different look and feel. Each provides great spaces, views and vibes.
Research Assistance
There are over 60 subject librarians at UF that are experts on how to do research in a particular discipline. You can contact a librarian for research assistance or book a librarian for a research consultation. They can even help fact check!
