Paul Lyrene’s legacy of science and stewardship

Known as the Father of Florida Blueberries, Paul M. Lyrene, Ph.D., emeritus professor of Horticultural Sciences, began his work with the University of Florida in 1977, when he took over the blueberry breeding program. In recognition of a career that helped transform the Florida blueberry industry, UF’s new blueberry research building was named the Paul M. Lyrene Blueberry Research Building.
